It's now 2 and a bit years since we chucked it in in the UK and headed out to rural France. probably best thing we ever did. Now then, the priority has been to get the farmhouse ship shape, the gardens manageable and the small holding productive, In amongst all this has been my desire to fill up all the image libraries I deal with, with imagery of this part of France....big fly in the ointment was me almost getting measured up for a nice wicker casket and shoved in an oven last year, so something had to give. As a just in case thing, I threw all my energy into the house, garden and smallholding with a bit of stock imagery and not a lot of the creative stuff...oh my, looking at shots so there was enough usable negative space in them was and is starting to get to me.(lets not forget the keywording) And so we have hit Autumn, gardens are tidy, smallholding fettled and house insulated and stocked with winter fuel....see you knew I'd get somewhere with this...so time to pull down the creative hat over my ears and get cracking...I've already started...so come closer and i'll give you the skinny.... For those brave enough to have wandered around the site, you will have picked up that, of late, I like to get things done in camera, wibbly wobbly, multi imaging and what not ...I know, some of it can scare the horses and at times I scratch my head and wonder what on earth possessed me..Well I think I've deep cleansed my system and worked through all I wanted to learn about those processes, they'll always be there if I need to use them...so I am taking a step back in a few major ways.... My under used Nikon D750...well in there amongst all the menu fluff there is a tab that let's you shoot monochrome...that's right...black and white...like a roll of tri-x of pan-f, only in a digital camera. It also lets you chose yellow to red filtering, clarity, sharpness, contrast and brightness and one I'll miss out on, toning. Ally this shooting with Fine Jpegs and using only the 20mm f2.8 and 50mm f1.8 with a bit of manual exposing thrown in and I have a point and shoot with a what you see is what you get capability. That's right, no Lightroom faffery, no Photoshop tomfoolery no cropping just wysiwyg!!! So .at the moment I have +1 on clarity, +3 on contrast and the Red filter, yeh we are looking at double espresso level 7 monos here straight out of the box, but these may change. I also managed to get Nikon's WMU wifi app working so images from the camera go straight to the iphone and can be whisked off without ever touching a big old PC...modern days eh!! But that's not all, on no siree, Dominique our Postie will be labouring long and hard over the next few weeks bringing kit that will also be a step away from digital to all things analogue, things are changing, it's Autumn folks, winter drawers on, all those long winter nights for some photo experimentation. so straight out of the can free from all faffery and fiddling cropping and post process....
