Funny old week, starts off with me thinking I've made a right old horlicks of some of the shots I'd taken on holiday but I hadn't...lose my specs..anyone seen a nice metal tin with a frog on it???? So I thought I'd have a wander around the far reaches of image libraries I have stuff on...well blow me on Alamy I found out I'd sold some stuff ages ago, just so happens they don't pay out cheques just BACs or paypal, so registered for paypal....nice... and what a shocker..Mr Getty you sold something for a lot of cash after months of nothing...hmmm then BBC history magazine gets in touch and would like to chuck some dosh in my direction...nice...so I'm going to do the lottery tonight....on a roll
Right okay, I've got to say, you are one lucky or maybe brilliant photographer if you can make a living out of image library sales, some do, good luck to you most it's bits and pieces, always a nice addition to the flow of money but not something you can always count on, in fact I've been a right lazy monkey these last few months and hardly 'upped' anything to a library...will change and I'll save the bulk to when the light closes in and telly will still be naff and there's time to get the keywording spot on...oh no I hear you groan...he's off on one about keywording...well just think...how do you search on Google ????? yep words, think about how you would search for your images and then....that's right...add them as keywords to your images....and you never know...Alamy, the BBC and Getty might sell something for you. TFI friday..cakes to make it's party time!!!!! Lets hope for some sunshine next week as there is a log jam for outdoor photography courses, putting together a beginners course so that will be up next week and for all my pupils the learning zone will be online as well...but for now back to the cakes...Beetroot and Choccy and next White choc and Chilli..... Mary Berry...step to one side, I'm coming through.

Well I know I'm old and a bit bog eyed but bit of a suprise this morning to find that I couldn't download my Photoshop CC app onto this computer because it's not Windows 7 Service pack 2 or Windows 8...did I miss the small print somewhere...it's probably there in teeny tiny writing meh...I'll stick it onto the 'annoying' Windows 8 powered laptop...good thing it has a 17" screen, well looks like I'll have to run ol CS6 on here for the time being or if a newer windows computer box arrives in the post....anybody????....though not and here's me saving up for a trip to France and still not out of the financial murk that was 2 and a half weeks in Scotland zipping about hither and of course...zither. Yep feeling a bit punchy after my 'mad dogs and englishemen trip to the allotment to find it buried under a pile of weeds and the paths neede strimming and all of a sudden it's 4 hours later, I'm dehydrated but the place looks a wee bit better....by the way anyone seen my glasses...in a nice tin with the pic of a frog on the front, and while you are looking how about my big 10 stopper B+W ND110 anyone picked one up on their travels ????? hmmmmm... Time for a picture Yes it's the Road to the Isles show at Camusdarach, just over the dunes is the Sound of Sleat and then the Isle of Skye...it really is a ripper of a location and you can see my take on it here. Right rehydrated and now to jump in and do a bit of processing...
Lets get this processing juggernaut on the road..... Okay I've been doing a bit of twitching...no photography as I don't have anything longer than a 50mm so maybe ...if I get some spare cash get a big dobbing tele and take this lark, or larks seriously... but saw loads of unusual stuff of the flappy variety...who knew there were so many different kinds..and it can be quite addictive...mind you can't let it get in the way of the snapping...
Visite lots of Galleries whilst I was out and about, lots of inspiration and I think I will be going some mixed media imagery... also dragged home 4 bin bags of old fishing net and nylon...?????...yep that's right flotsam , jetsom, whatever it is and I've got a mind to do a bit of weaving/wall hangings with the stuff, I'll post a photo of the stuff tomorrow, it's down in the cellar at the mo smelling of the seaside... Right, i mentioned in the last blog post that I am going to organise my images into collections and publish them as sets to give a more coherent look at what I tried to achieve on my travels. So until tomorrow..TTFN. ..at last a bed that fits my frame...and so much to process...and so many emails to answer...ah well if you do take 17 days off then that's what you get... I will be sorting out all the images into collections before I go anywhere near processing them as I've tried to shoot the different subject matters in different styles...bit of nature creeping in and some people shots ....so be patient with me , I've about 2,000 usable shots to get through, that's right ediring whilst shooting, saves bringing home too much crap and as I had no power to crank up anything for half the time reasonably sensible.
Ended up on the Scottish east coast then down to Bamburgh and the Northumberland seaside and then down along Hadrians wall and through the Dales before heading back down the M6...1550 miles of driving but worth it..had a great holiday at the same time and squeezed in some 'twitching' with many consultations to my RSPB guides.... ah and fell asleep and got serious sunburn.....ah.... so will start posting tomorrow..until then TTFN ..about with BT in getting registered for Wifi hotspots...there appears to be no hotspots over here on Scotlands North West coast... so struggling with the campsite wifi..bit like having 2 bean tins joined together with a bit of string...but I'm online. Last week spent on the Outer Hebrides all the way from Eoropie beach...spectacular down to the southern most point of Harris and back across to Skye for a wander up the Quirang and Floddigarry and now here at Camusdarach on the West Coast of mainland Scotland. On a 'proper' campsite so charging everything up through the hook up...othing quite like running out of camera power like I did on Skye....grrrr...my generic Nikon Battery died on me...well if you buy crap that's what you get....
Road to the Isles show on here today, excellent last year..tiny but non stop...well if you like sheep and highland cattle and bagpipes.... clown act with an exploding car pon today as well so watch this space. Another day here then drop down through Arachle and off to Oban..week to go and a 1,000 shots in the can already..weather set fair as wellso until the next time, well, wherever BT deem is a Wifi Hotspot......haste ye back... |
What's all this then????An unyeilding torrent of Photo babbel full of unconfirmed facts and manufactured photo drivel.. take from it what you like, it won't change the world but may leave you feeling nauseous... Categories
