You're probably thinking I've run off and forgotten all about you....well I have run off to live in France and all my time, well nearly all my time is spent knocking this old farmhouse into the 21st century...don't get me wrong, I'm taking lots of photos just really have no time to sit down and tell you or even show you what I'm doing. My photography time is taken up loading images onto my Getty accounts, it's slow...it's painful but already I have some positive results from increasing my exposure with them...I'm up to images from 2012 so a lot more to put through the upload/keyword cross your fingers stages... but that sucks all the time out of my free space..and then there have been all the visitors...should be finished with all the folks coming across by the end of September so that'll also free up some time. Big plans for lots of Photoshop videos on here as well for the upcoming murky months of Autumn and also have , in my head anyway, outline plans of the sort of images I want to do from now on...there will still be marmite based malarkey but maybe a lot of straight shooting as well... until the next time mon amis, I will kiss you on both cheeks and get back to the millstone... oh one last thing thanks for the emails and stuff but I won't be running a Photowalk this year

Getting there now, still working hard on the farmhouse and meadows but now getting a day a week in to get snapping and uploading again. Full strip down and rebuild of the Rotavator planned for this week, Briggs Stratton 3.5HP cadet for those that may feign an interest, I may take some snaps......... Now, I'm really just doing some pretty straight forward image library shoots at the mo, 50mm lens, not trying to do anything other than get my take on all this new material over here in France. I do have plans to produce commercial/retail images but those can wait for those winter months when I'll be spending lots of time in front of this machine. Big problem for me is the amount of dust I'm getting on the camera sensor, I'll be addressing that next year when i go for a complete overhaul of my gear but for the moment I'm hoping that Amazon can get a big box of swabs to me so I can ease off these monster chunks on the sensor. I'd rather be shooting than retouching blobs all over images...meh...come on Dominique...for he is the very local postie here...get those swabs into the post box. Most of the stuff I'm doing is a bit...ehhhh...how shall I say...good record shots!!! , so not much to fire up the creative juices this is a smattering from a pile that have headed off to Getty images this morning, all 50mm full frame in this rather wonderful quality of light that wafts about us in Brittany Centre Aquatic Morlaix, Architect Marc Mimram
It may have come to your attention, over these last 5 months that I have been pretty busy getting my head around a lot of different shooting techniques, software and new chunks of shiny hardware and really it's all in preparation for a bit of an adventure I'll be off on in about 4 weeks time as from then on I can't see myself having a spare moment for at least the following 12 months at which point I will be hurling myself into my 7th decade..let's all bow our heads for a minutes silence here...7th decade.... aye caramba, thank heavens I've still got my good looks and nothings fallen off yet....ahem...
So, as I am getting more and more 'old stuff' faffed and tickled into some kind of retail shape I thought I'd let you know where I'm up to image wise. If you are that solitary reader who has managed to part the clouds of Guff that hang about this place like a Saharan dust storm smog, you'll remember that I always say..queue funny voice 'Always squirrel away lots of files when it's sunny so during the dross months of winter you'll have somethign to give a good old spanking to and not have to watch telly' Well as I've switched systems from the Steam powered Dell that wheezed it's way through a stack of adjustment layers to Hal, the all powerful pixel muncher..I discovered that, probably like a lot of Squirrels out there, that I'd saved any number of image files in completely random folders all over the place, workflow now is of the sensible kind but as I was switching from Lightroom to Photoshop to Bridge and back stuff was being hoicked all over the show in a multi format unfathomable morrass... after many tears things seem to be making far more sense..new Catalogue in LR5, bring in images from various hard drives..Lightroom to Photoshop then saved to Lightroom and exported via presets from Lightroom to their life on the net. (for the non photographer who may have just read that last passage, it's what we in the trade call Photoshop Bollocks..) So alamy, Getty and redbubble are getting fed on a constant conveyor of tasty jpegs 500px gets some exclusives now and then..they are licencing some of my images now as well as doing prints, downloads and canvas things. Now that Getty has given up on flickr I'll probably stick the odd image on just to let folk I've not passed on, nearly my 7th decade lets not forget...so here are some motorbikes from a stack of files I've had hanging around for a while Into it now and using a combination of wacom and mouse to ease myself into this brave new world of tablet based work. So...the quickest way to learn was to go to the Wacom site and also Lynda.com and have a bit of Kelbyone thrown in for good measure...still waiting for all the button functions to stick so I have them all written out next to the Intuos Pad..a good old fashioned crib sheet. Well without further ado I have been back and getting stuck into painting in Photoshop CC, the image below was made up of 8 different layers using the mixer brush function and various brush sizes, now I'm not going to do any training videos just yet as I'm still at the bottom of the learning curve but can see how this could develop especially in the portrait field So one more to do tonight and then I'll see what else I can get up to with this new system that I'm working with. I've got the double monitor thing just about set up but first back to the flowers for some more intricate paintwork...and here's one hot off the digitl canvas
